Description from the seller

Original XXL artwork / Teddy Bear 064-1
A unique original work from the Teddy Bear series by Michiel Folkers (Gieler).

For this work a second-hand teddy bear was used as a printing matrix. The bear was fully submerged in deep black acrylic ink and then pressed in one direct motion onto high-quality museum paper. Due to the shape, texture, and natural distortion of the teddy bear, each print yields a unique image.

The work is firmly mounted on dibond and finished with a carefully chosen oak frame. The XXL size gives the print a strong physical presence, and the structure of the teddy bear is fully brought to life.

Not a reproduction, but a fully unique original. The teddy bear used changes during the printing process and can therefore never reproduce the exact same image. The teddy bear is a recurring motif within the oeuvre of Michiel Folkers (Gieler), in which everyday objects are used as direct and unpredictable printing instruments.

Number 064-1
064 refers to the 64th teddy bear used within this series as a printing form.
1 refers to the first original print made with this specific teddy bear.

The print series with this teddy bear has been consciously limited. During printing the ink composition and the bear's structure change, causing each subsequent print to take on a different character. As soon as the quality and visual strength of the print change, the series is definitively closed. This ensures that each work remains not only unique in image but also tied to a specific moment in the physical printing process.

About the artist:

Michiel Folkers (1982), better known as Gieler**, began in the late nineties as a graffiti artist in Amsterdam. The direct influence of the street remains present in his work: raw, experimental and without unnecessary distance between artist, material and image.

From his studio, Folkers develops his own printing and painting techniques in which everyday and found objects are used as tools. The result sits at the crossroads of **urban art, contemporary art and mixed media**.

His work is held in private collections and is collected and sold internationally through art platforms, galleries and directly from his studio.

Seller's Story

Michiel Folkers is a mixed media artist living and working in Amsterdam. Selling his work all over the world and exposing in galleries from Zurich to New York. He is best known for his layered artworks, large canvasses, in which he blend colorful streetposters together with spray paint and acrylics. He is pulling and collecting these streetposters himself for every individual artwork and is using this as base for all his pieces. On top of these layered backgrounds he paints, screenprint or paste recognizable themes for example comics or celebs (from now or the past) but also large abstract paintings. Always important the background doesn't get lost but entangles with the subject. Every piece is unique and looks like a brick of wall that you want to hang in your home. Every piece is finished with a strong and shiny lacquer layer. All artworks are ready to hang, will be shipped fast, in high secure wooden crates, together with a Certificate of Authencity.
