⸻
Character of the work
Velarium Éther depicts a monumental, almost unreal architectural space, where dark, massive columns open onto a calm water surface and a distant, illuminated landscape. Between the monumental structures, two sailing ships with golden sails appear, traversing the water across the composition. Their movement introduces a subtle sense of life and passing into the static, monumental space.
Dark shades of graphite, black, and muted blue contrast with warm light and golden reflections. Characteristic golden splotches, abrasions, luminous textures, and geometric lines permeate the surface of the work, giving it a painterly texture and a sense of time’s traces. Natural landscape elements are thus combined with an almost abstract, monumental architecture.
Central perspective guides the eye through successive arches toward the bright moon, while the sailing ships cut the space with horizontal motion, creating an interesting contrast between the verticality of the columns and the horizontal direction of their journey. Reflections of light on the water further enhance the depth and rhythm of the composition.
The painting may evoke associations with impermanence, travel, crossing successive spaces, and seeking one’s own course. The sailing ships, however, do not lead to a specific destination — they sail their own path, leaving the viewer room for personal interpretation. Monumental architecture, tranquil water, and moonlight together create an atmosphere of mystery, quiet, and suspension between reality and imagination.

⸻
About the artist
Vale Noctis creates contemporary, atmospheric paintings in which light, space, nature, architecture, and human experience merge into unique, multi-layered compositions.
His works feature landscapes, sea, sails, mountains, architecture, portals, geometric forms, faces, figures, and abstract structures. These motifs do not form a closed catalog — the artist’s output remains open to new topics, directions, and ways of building an image.
The distinctive pairing of light and shadow, golden accents, deep tones, reflections, and space gives the works a recognizable atmosphere. An important element of the artist’s work is the tension between reality and imagination — between what can be recognized and what remains open to individual interpretation.
In the artistic process, contemporary digital tools are used, including AI as a supportive instrument, as well as tools for digital composition, editing, working with layers, color, light, and detail. These technologies are part of the artist’s workshop, enabling the development and precise refinement of the author’s vision while maintaining control over composition, visual direction, and the final character of the work.
