Character of the artwork
Vesperis Arcana presents a surreal seascape, where a monumental portal rises from a small island amid a calm surface of water. Around it stretches a radiant landscape, and several sailing ships cross the space, introducing a subtle rhythm and a sense of travel to the composition.
Cool shades of blue, graphite, and navy contrast with the warm light of the setting sun and the intense golden reflections. Golden splashes, abrasions and geometric lines permeate the sky and water, giving the painting the character of painted matter and traces of time.
The central portal becomes a symbol of passage and mystery, while the moon and sun create in the composition an extraordinary balance between night and day. The painting may evoke associations with travel, change, crossing boundaries, and the search for one’s own path, leaving the viewer space for personal interpretation.
