Antique wooden neck rest / headrest from Ethiopia from the first half of the 20th century. Traditional neck rest for sleeping to protect the elaborate hairstyles of the Arussi or Kambatta people. Beautiful art object carved from a single piece of hardwood. No cracks. The wood has gorgeous grain/pattern (see photos) and a nice warm patina from use. Unique and decorative tribal art object.

Antieke houten neksteun / hoofdsteun uit Ethiopië van eerste helft 20e eeuw. Traditionele neksteun voor tijdens het slapen om de ingewikkelde kapsels te beschermen van de Arussi of Kambatta bevolking. Prachtig kunstobject uit een stuk hardhout gesneden. Geen barsten. Hout heeft prachtige nerven/tekening (zie foto's) en mooi warm patina door gebruik. Uniek en decoratief tribaal kunstobject.
