Eiraku Zengoro XII - Chawan - Ceramic

A finely preserved Chawan attributed to Eiraku Wazen (永樂和全), the 12th Zengorō, dating from the late Edo to early Meiji period. The bowl features a distinctive heavily crackled cream glaze and expressive iron-painted decoration depicting eight highly stylized Chinese immortals (Sennin), surrounded by scrolling motifs.

The underside bears the Eiraku seal, and the Chawan is accompanied by an old Kiribako with Hakogaki identifying Wazen as the 12th Zengorō. The combination of the unusual figurative decoration, strongly textured glaze and documented attribution makes this a particularly distinctive example of Wazen’s work.
