This work is not a portrait of melancholy, but a visual manifesto about the power of stopping. Based on a deep introspective search, the painting captures the exact moment when external noise fades to make way for self-connection. The figure, wrapped in an intimate and tactile gesture, inhabits its own body with absolute awareness, turning vulnerability into its greatest strength. With an expressive brushstroke that converses between the chaos of the background and the warmth of the skin, the work celebrates the pause as an act of optimistic resistance. It invites us to look inward not to hide from the world, but to return to it with a more lucid, solid, and awake identity.

Vida AMReyes. (Granma, Cuba 1991) discovered from a very young age that drawing was not merely a pastime, but a way to translate the world. In 2010, she graduated with honors from the prestigious Carlos Enrique Gómez Academy of Fine Arts. There she consolidated an exceptional technical mastery in oil painting, acrylics, and life drawing, foundations that later would shape her conceptual signature.

Her early years of career unfolded amid the Cuban cultural effervescence, actively participating in young artists’ salons and collective exhibitions. Her work quickly began to stand out: in salons and exhibitions she earned numerous prizes and mentions.

AMReyes’s work is distinguished by a visceral and imposing realism that the gaze captures instantly. However, her proposal does not stay in mere photographic mimesis. On anatomies worked with rigor or faces loaded with deep psychographic expressiveness, the artist overlays and integrates icons, allegories, and conceptual elements: wings that seem invisible to the bearer, suspended threads, blocks of dense color, or garments loaded with symbolism. For her, the human body and the ordinary figure are the perfect canvas to reflect on identity.

This fusion between technical mastery and symbolic narrative opened the way to her international projection. Over the last decade, her pieces have been acquired by private collectors and galleries in:
