Description from the seller
“Permanence”
This work is a visual introspection of the soul. A journey inward, a silent dialogue with the emotions and thoughts that often remain hidden.
The loose brushwork and vibrant colors reflect the complexity and intensity of my own emotional world. I seek to convey the vulnerability and the strength that coexist in the human being, exploring the relationship between the inner self and the outer world.
Each stroke is a fragment of my story, an invitation to reflection and to connection with your own essence. I hope this work inspires you to look inward and to discover the beauty that resides inside you.
Vida AMReyes. (Granma, Cuba 1991) discovered from a very young age that drawing was not just a pastime, but a way to translate the world. In 2010, she graduated with honors from the prestigious Carlos Enrique Gómez Academy of Fine Arts. There she consolidated an exceptional technical mastery in oil painting, acrylics, and life drawing, foundations that would later shape her conceptual signature.
Her early career unfolded amid the Cuban cultural ferment, actively participating in young artist salons and group exhibitions. Her work began to stand out immediately: in salons and exhibitions she earned numerous prizes and mentions.
AMReyes’s work is distinguished by a visceral, imposing realism that instantly captures the eye. However, her proposal does not rest on mere photographic mimesis. On an anatomically studied body or faces charged with deep psychographic expressiveness, the artist overlays and integrates icons, allegories, and conceptual elements: wings that seem invisible to the bearer, suspended threads, blocks of dense color, or garments laden with symbolism. For her, the human body and the everyday figure are the perfect canvas to reflect on identity.
This fusion of technical mastery and symbolic narrative paved the way for her international projection. Over the last decade, her pieces have been acquired by private collectors and galleries in:
Spain: Where her conceptual language connects with European expressionism.
United States: Included in private collections dedicated to contemporary Latin American art.
Belgium and Poland: Exhibited at figurative art fairs and avant-garde galleries.
Russia: Acquired by collectors fascinated by the technical rigor and the school of realism.
Currently, AMReyes resides in Spain, a country where she has established her studio and consolidated a new creative phase. Far from the rapid commercial noise, she continues to develop her artistic life with patience and rigor, exploring painting as a tool of universal introspection. Her studio is today a space of constant creation, where every brushstroke continues to reveal those truths and hidden icons that we all carry inside, but that we often find hard to see."
