Mattheus Johannes Marie (Matthieu) Wiegman was born in Zwolle on May 31, 1886 and died in Bergen (NH) on April 5, 1971.
Education at the Rijksakademie voor Beeldende Kunst in Amsterdam. Student of August Allebé, Antoon Derkinderen and André Vlaanderen. Teacher of, among others, Jaap Min.
Lived and worked in Bergen from 1909-1912, in various places in France from 1922-1927, again in Bergen from 1930-1971.
