This work presents a female face transformed into a monumental presence within a closed and enigmatic architectural space. The figure occupies the center of a large blue arched structure, as if it were inside a temple, a chamber or a stage built to guard it.

The face is split between orange and turquoise. One eye remains closed, while the other, with a blue iris, appears surrounded by a circle that recalls a lens or observation mechanism. This opposition creates a dialogue between the inner and outer gaze: a part of the character remains withdrawn, while the other watches the space around it.

The black hair rises through a large curved, sculptural form. The cylindrical neck, divided between violet and blue, rests on a geometric cream, black and red pedestal. This structure transforms the portrait into a kind of architectural sculpture and reinforces its symbolic character.

On the left, a clear staircase ascends through a dark area toward a red structure. On the right appears a narrow violet arched window and a large black triangular form. These elements create different directions and possible paths within the scene, though none clearly reveal where they lead.

The palette combines orange, turquoise, blue, violet, red, cream and black. The dark areas generate depth and drama, while the precise lines organize space. The work fuses neocubist portrait, geometric abstraction, hard-edge aesthetics and architectural surrealism.

Art series: The Universe of the 1000 Faces

The Universe of the 1000 Faces began as an expansion of the series The 1000 Faces. In this project, the characters stop appearing solely as portraits and begin to exist within their own settings, formed by impossible architectures, open spaces, geometric structures and imaginary landscapes.

Arches, stairs, passageways, windows, shadows and platforms do not merely function as decorative elements. They become extensions of the characters and represent their thoughts, memories and inner spaces. The body can transform into a monument, building or part of the landscape, altering the usual relationship between figure and environment.

The series explores the boundary between portrait and stage, between the visible and the imagined. Each scene suggests a story without fully explaining it and invites the viewer to wonder who the character is, what the place they inhabit represents and where their doors and paths lead.

All the works maintain the geometric and chromatic language of The 1000 Faces, but incorporate a more narrative, spatial and surreal dimension. Each painting represents a different place, though all belong to a single, ever-growing visual universe.

In Universe #4, the character seems to guard an interior architecture full of possible accesses. The staircase, the window and the large arch turn the scene into a transitional space, while its two eyes represent two distinct ways of perceiving it: looking inside and observing the unknown.
