Description from the seller
Special Series Crypto COMICS - Reconstituting a photo using photos of the COMICS depicted.
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author, and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in the urban space. He first gained recognition with a series devoted to window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This research on gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost lifelike presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A new reading of cultural icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary rereading of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic construction made up of thousands of micro-graphic compositions. From afar, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close it reveals a wealth of visual details. Each fragment acts as a “wave,” evoking the artistic universe of the subject represented. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. A thorough work is carried out on colors, light and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created originally and independently.
Edition & Manufacturing
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with a built-in rear mounting. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with a soft anti-UV and anti-moisture lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, great long-term color stability, and a modern, contemporary rendering.
Career
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the dedicated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops a work as an author and musician, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photo book, and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
