In this series of acrylics on canvas, the painting becomes an exercise in visual excavation. Under a persistent weave of horizontal bands, ornamental, architectural, and calligraphic forms emerge and conceal themselves, seemingly belonging to a collective memory. The decorative ceases to be a motif and becomes a vestige: a fragmented language that resists its disparition.

The layering of colors creates a constant tension between revealing and concealing. The black stripes function as interruptions of time, glazes that hinder immediate reading and compel the viewer to reconstruct the image from absence. Each work proposes an archaeology of the gaze, where what is visible never presents itself in full and meaning remains suspended.

The chromatic economy — reduced to the dialogue between blacks, whites, and a broad range of grays — concentrates attention on the materiality of the gesture. Transparencies, dragged brushstrokes, and the traces of the process turn the surface into a record of actions, where the painting preserves the memory of its own making.

Far from literal representation, these pieces inhabit an intermediate territory between abstraction and evocation. Their references to ornamental patterns, architectural structures, and ancestral signs appear as echoes of a visual culture that decomposes and recomposes simultaneously. The series raises a reflection on the permanence of symbols, the fragility of memory, and the capacity of painting to reveal what remains hidden beneath the successive layers of time.
