Description
Very beautiful antique copy of Michel Strogoff – From Moscow to Irkutsk, followed by A Drama in Mexico, by Jules Verne.
Hetzel Collection edition – Extraordinary Voyages, in its spectacular polychrome binding with Jules Verne's portrait.
Special features of this copy:
– portrait of Jules Verne laid down and glued to the front board;
– polychrome binding signed A. Lenègre;
– second board Lenègre type e;
– FX Catalogue at the end of the volume, announcing the 1891-1892 new releases;
– gilded edges;
– numerous illustrations by J. Férat, engraved by Ch. Barbant.
The front board preserves very beautiful colors and remains particularly decorative. The interior is clean and well preserved for a work of this period.
Condition: old copy showing visible defects, notably wear to the headbands and spine, small losses/frays of the cloth, and fragility at an inner hinge. The glued portrait also shows a small wear at the bottom corner. Please study the many photographs carefully, which are an integral part of the description.
