The copy is, overall, genuine and in good condition. Last edition with Manzoni in life (as well as the last revised by him) of his “Various Works,” printed for the first time in 1845, always in Milan at Redaelli. The Author revisited some parts of the prose deemed unsatisfactory. Includes: Adelchi; Discourse on some points of Lombard history in Italy; The Count of Carmagnola; Lettre à M.C. on the unity of time and place in tragedy; Of the historical novel and, in general, of the mixed compositions of history and invention; On invention; On the Italian language; Observations on Catholic morality; Sacred Hymns; Verses; The Five May. This edition also contains the Letter on Romanticism, hitherto unpublished.
