Description from the seller
STUNNING AND IMPONENT EXEMPLAR FROM A HIGH-END COLLECTION OF CARPINUS BETULUS (WHITE HORNBEEAM)
For sale is a true living botanical art piece, a masterpiece ideal for discerning collectors, professionals or enthusiasts who wish to add to their collection a tree of indisputable maturity, vigor and aesthetic character.
This specimen rightly belongs to the category of large exhibition bonsai (Omono). What makes this piece unique and of immense value on the market is the exceptional trunk at the base structure (nebari) measuring a striking 37 x 35 cm. Such mass, taper and a base so markedly radiated require decades of skilled guided cultivation and continual selection.
The silvery bark, carved by time, bears witness to the tree’s advanced age and stability.
The crown, structured in an informal upright style (Moyogi) and majestic, presents extraordinary density with solid structural branches and a very fine secondary and tertiary branching.
Health and Seasonal Cycles (Documented in the attached photos):
• The plant is in impeccable health and endowed with exceptional vigor.
• Spring/Summer Phase: Very dense canopy, bright, compact green foliage, excellent responsiveness to containment pruning and defoliation.
• Autumn Phase: The grand spectacle of this essence. The tree color changes uniformly, turning a vivid and intense golden yellow of rare beauty before winter rest.
• Winter Phase: With leaves fallen, the tree shows a strict, clean silhouette and a superbly arranged branch layout, free of large or unsightly cut wounds.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION OF THE SPECIMEN:
• Species: Carpinus betulus (White Hornbeam)
• Tree height (excluding pot): 78 cm
• Maximum canopy width: 85 cm
• Base/Nebari dimensions: 37 x 35 cm (Museum-category diameter)
• Pot dimensions: 57 x 43 cm (Height: 17 cm)
• Pot type: Rectangular, professional unglazed stoneware in earth/clay tones, with proportions perfect to enhance the majesty of a significant broadleaf.
