A wooden souvenir jewelry box, presumably dating from the first half of the twentieth century. The lid features the hand-painted calligraphic inscription "Ricordo di Caravaggio" and presents fine floral decorations (including an edelweiss) flanked by a medallion depicting religious motifs where a faithful woman is kneeling to ask for a grace before the Madonna among the Angels, while behind her one can observe a large church. High-quality wood with warm, characteristic grains and flame. Boxes of this type were purchased by travelers as elegant gifts or jewelry cases to safeguard small personal effects. The box preserves the original front metal lock equipped with a key.
