Montanari’s original acrylic painting Fichi d'India (1978) measures 50 × 70 cm, is signed in a contemporary expressive style and depicts prickly pears with green, yellow, blue, red and pink tones.
Description from the seller
The work depicts a suggestive and vibrant close-up composition of prickly pears (Opuntia ficus-indica), a classic theme of Mediterranean iconography, here reinterpreted with a distinctly modern and expressionist sensibility.
Conditions: The cover photo is for illustrative purposes only; the painting remains in the condition shown in the subsequent photos, the colors still appear perfectly bright and in excellent color condition. The support shows some signs of aging as in the photo.
Artistic characteristics and style:
The painting stands out for its bold use of intense and contrasting color blocks. The dominant tones of deep greens and ochre yellows of the cactus pads create a plastically textured backdrop on which the ripe fruits stand out, illuminated by vibrant shades of red and coral. The style blends abstract-figurative inspiration with a strong material expressivity, capable of giving great dynamism and visual depth to the entire composition.
