Rare and Splendid Vase / Japanese-style Inkwell-Epergne in Enameled Opaline – BACCARAT, c. 1880.

Exceptional and LARGE Vase / inkwell of Japanese-style, in enameled opaline with a chased and gilded bronze mount, produced by the prestigious Baccarat Crystal Works around 1880 (Napoleon III period / early Art Nouveau).

Luxuriously enhanced with a hand-painted Japanese-style decor featuring autumn branches, clusters of violet fruits, and large medallions with fine gold, including a superb stylized bluish medallion.

The gilded bronze mount, of very high relief, adopts a vegetal motif imitating gnarled branches of Prunus or cherry blossoms in Japan, emblematic of the Meiji aesthetics of the late 19th century.

Condition and traceability exceptional:
This prestige piece is sold 100% complete with all its original elements:
- Removable inner lining/reservoir in brass.
- Central brass tightening stem hand-engraved with the Roman numeral for pairing “VIII.”
- Original metal base marked “N 8.”
- Locking knob/bulge in brass officially stamped with the historic crest of the manufacture: “BACCARAT” with the decanter, stemmed glass, and tumbler.
All in good used condition.
The enamel and gilding are very well preserved. No crack or chip on the opaline.

VERY IMPORTANT!
Ultra-fine traces of age are present on the bronze bases.
Note that the Vase / Inkwell would be better suited as a centerpiece or as a vase for dried flowers because the reservoir is perforated. THIS IS THE ONLY DEFECT! Nevertheless, this could be repaired.
Upon cleaning, the labels have slightly worn away (see photos), BUT the other original numbered and stamped elements confirm its authenticity.

Of rare splendor, this Vase can be transformed into a lamp (see photos with light).
