Pack !!! Meteorite NWA 869, a L3-6 chondrite from Tindouf, Algeria, weighing 25 g.
Description from the seller
The NWA 869 chondrite is the largest known stony meteorite fall, and thus one of the most famous falls.
Magnificent pieces in which we can observe primary fusion crust,
Indicative photo of pieces weighing 25 grams.
Chondrites are among the oldest materials in the solar system, with an estimated formation age of 4.550 billion years. They are undifferentiated meteorites, which is why they contain iron, in this case in small amounts since it is type L.
Most of them originate from the asteroid belt located between Mars and Jupiter.
A characteristic of chondrites is the presence of chondrules, small millimeter-sized spheres, largely composed of silicates.
The standard model for their initial formation is that they form during the condensation of the solar nebula, from cosmic dust.
Chondrites are considered among the first elements from which planets form.
At Expometeoritos, we handle outreach, lectures, workshops, analyses, classification, and exhibitions of meteorites.
We are members of:
.- IMCA (International Meteorite Collectors Association) #8187
.- Meteoritical Society
.- American Meteor Society
All our pieces are certified and, furthermore, we provide the chemical composition analysis if the piece’s value exceeds €300, carried out at our facilities by X-ray spectroscopy.
