Description from the seller
Enrico Colombotto Rosso (1925–2013) – Untitled Portrait
Original work on paper by Enrico Colombotto Rosso (1925–2013), one of Italy's most distinctive twentieth-century artists, renowned for his visionary and surreal imagery.
Executed in ink wash and pencil on paper (china acquarellata e matita), the portrait displays the artist's characteristic sensitivity and expressive draughtsmanship. Through subtle tonal variations and delicate line work, Colombotto Rosso creates a figure of quiet introspection and enigmatic presence.
The composition reflects the poetic and dreamlike atmosphere for which the artist is widely appreciated, making it an appealing work for collectors of modern Italian and surrealist-inspired art.
Technique: Ink wash and pencil on paper (china acquarellata e matita)
Signature: Signed lower right
Framing: Framed under glass. Total dimensions including the frame: 47.5 × 35.5 cm. Frame border thickness: 2.5 cm.
Condition: Very good overall condition. The artwork is well preserved, while the frame shows signs of age and wear consistent with its age and use.
Framing Note: The artwork was removed from the frame to verify its authenticity and inspect the signature. After inspection, the frame was carefully closed again. As a result, small nails are visible on the reverse of the frame where the backing was reattached. This is visible only on the back and does not affect the appearance or display of the artwork.
