Jozef Dinnewet (1827-1889) - Jonge dame

A very old portrait painting of Jozef Dinnewet.
(Aardenburg NL. 1827 - Brugge BE. 1889) - 19th century.
It is signed and the back is additionally signed.
He painted many portraits, but not always in a valuable frame.
The painting itself was more important for his fine colors and fine faces.
Jozef or Josephus studied at the Bruges Municipal Art Academy in Bruges.
Later Jozef was a lecturer at the Municipal Art Academy in Bruges.
His daughter: Marie Dinnewet married the famous Joe English, who was artistically hailed as one of the Iron symbols. Because of his numerous war drawings at the front. For, thanks to him, front scenes were seen during the First World War.
He also has a monument at the Menin Gate in Diksmuide where the First World War is central.
Joe English was Jozef Dinnewet’s son-in-law.
