Technique and Emotion:
With closed eyes and a head thrown back, she drinks greedily from the reddish clay jug. The dark, damp hair clings to the neck and shoulders, the white cloth has slipped down, revealing the full breasts. The body is surrendered, the mouth at the jug, the intoxication perceptible. A dionysian moment – sensual, unrestrained, ancient.
Crash here borrows the pictorial language of the old masters and works with the classical chiaroscuro of Caravaggio: The light shapes the body out of deepest black, makes the skin glow warm and alive, while the background sinks into impenetrable darkness. The transitions from light to shadow are soft and fleshy, the hair wild and damp, the jug matte and glossy. Everything breathes sensuality and intoxication.
A small format with the presence of an ancient Bacchanal – erotic, intoxicated and timeless.
