John Andrew Perello, known as JonOne, revisits here the masterpiece by Eugène Delacroix, Liberty Leading the People.

The work was created in 2015, at the request of the French Ministry of Culture, in response to the January 2015 attacks (Charlie Hebdo, Hyper Casher…).

It was presented at the Élysée Palace and offered to President François Hollande as a symbol of national unity.

Following the creation of the original canvas in 2015, the Ministry of Culture and Communication (then led by Fleur Pellerin) decided to disseminate the image as large-scale posters.
