Candlestick (2) - Gilt brass, Cast brass

Original pair of cast brass candlesticks, with a classic and symmetrical design, featuring a fluted shaft with a stylized profile, cylindrical receptacle for the candle, and a stepped rectangular base with softened corners. They present an aged golden finish, with natural patina, surface oxidations and signs of use. France, Late 19th century.

Due to its classical-inspired aesthetics, typology and decorative character, they are attributable to the taste of the Grand Tour, although it is not possible to establish a concrete provenance solely from the photographs. The construction in cast brass and the sober decoration are characteristics of decorative objects made following classical models.

Condition: Good, in keeping with their age and use. They show patina, small oxidation spots, wear, abrasions and superficial marks, especially on the bases and shafts. Both retain their structure and are a pair.

Observations: Interesting small decorative set, with a classical aesthetic and good presence. The reverse of the bases clearly shows the casting technique and the dark interior finish typical of brass pieces of this type.
