Facsimile edition of the oldest hunting work preserved that was written in French, which attained great popularity in the Middle Ages, although the original manuscript disappeared, thirty-two different copies survive. The basis for the present edition is the 10.218 of the Royal Library of Brussels, which contains magnificent miniatures, of exceptional beauty, that give a very exact idea of the way hunting was practiced 600 years ago. The book, attributed to the Norman noble Henri de Ferrières, was created for Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, and its miniatures are by Girart de Roussillon and his workshop. It is printed in double column, in full color, with numerous initial capitals and punctuation marks in gold polished over a blue and red background, and its numerous and splendid full-color miniatures, framed in fine gold, stand out for showing us hunting scenes with dogs and with birds, which graphically illustrate certain modes of hunting.
