Physis is a sculptural line focused on the structures and growth processes of the plant world. In contrast to Arbor Mundi's humanoid-vegetal metamorphosis, these works originate directly from the plant to transform its rhythms, shapes and modes of growth into a sculptural language.
Clivia, carved in marble, takes as reference the long overlapping leaves of this plant native to southern Africa. The sculpture does not reproduce the plant: it synthesizes its structure into ascending planes, while the natural veins of the marble run across some forms as if they were nerves.
Stone and plant thus share the same direction of growth.
