Born in 1951 in Haarlem, Jan began to devote himself to photography from a young age, although he later thought he had found his vocation as a concert pianist. In 1972, while working for an underground group in Manchester, Jan had to cross the Atlantic and faced again his need to create. He reconnected with his former contacts in the music world and hopped back on the touring bandwagon, but this time as a photographer. Over a 39-year career, Jan met and photographed rock and pop idols.
