Pair of antique silver photo frames – 833 silver – Louis XVI style – ca. 1900-1930
A particularly elegant pair of antique oval photo frames, made of 833 silver, executed in the refined Louis XVI style.
The frames have a classic oval shape with a finely profiled silver surround. The top is crowned by a richly worked openwork bow with a rosette and gracefully hanging ribbons. Subtle crossed ribbon motifs are also placed along the surround.
The silver surrounds bear multiple struck silver hallmarks, including a lion mark. The surrounds are made of 833/1000 silver (second quality silver).
On the back there are wooden backplates with fold-out stands, allowing both frames to be displayed freestanding.
