Splendid icon of contemporary sacred art depicting Saint Nicholas of Myra (Saint Nicholas of Bari), entirely handmade in accordance with the oldest canons of the iconographic tradition.
The work is by Marco Palumbo, artist and iconographer trained at the suggestive and historic Abbey of Pulsano and rooted in the territory of Monte Sant'Angelo, in the heart of the Gargano. His artistic research merges the deep spirituality of the Eastern and medieval tradition with rigorous handmade technical execution.
Subject: Saint Nicholas, one of the most venerated and loved saints in the world, protector of children, of sailors and a figure from whom the tradition of Santa Claus originates, here depicted in traditional episcopal vestments with the Gospel and the blessing hand.
Technique and Materials: Painting carried out with the traditional egg tempera technique on a wooden panel.
Finishes: The background is characterized by a deep chroma, while the halo is finished with gold leaf, applied by hand to give warm, luminous reflections that exalt sacredness.
The work has already been blessed in the Celestial Cave directly by the author. As a gesture of homage, a rosary taken directly from the devotional museum in the cave of Saint Michael the Archangel will be sent.
