Description from the seller
Series "An afternoon at Majorelle"
- Title At Majorelle B&W
- Fine Art print 50x50 numbered, signed 1/15 in unframed format
- Certificate of Authenticity
This black and white photograph was taken in the heart of the famous Majorelle Garden in Marrakech, one of the most emblematic gardens in Morocco.
The vertical composition of the palms creates a strong graphic dynamic, intensified by the ascending perspective that naturally guides the eye toward the sky. The sun, captured through the foliage, forms a bright star that contrasts with the deep silhouettes of the trees, giving the image a meditative and intense atmosphere.
The choice of black and white reinforces the timeless dimension of the scene and highlights the textures, lines, and play of light between the fronds and the sky. This photograph evokes the meeting between nature, botanical architecture, and Moroccan light.
Created in a place conceived by the painter Jacques Majorelle and later restored by fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent, the image sits within an artistic tradition where garden, color, and light are inseparable from Marrakech’s identity.
Passionate about photography from a very young age, Ben DAUCHEZ began in the neighborhood studios of La Rochelle. There he acquired all the fundamentals of classic photography, from technique to shooting and retouching, through to the lab. At 22, freshly graduated, he moved to Paris to perfect his training by becoming a set assistant for Daguerre studios, Le Petit Oiseau va sortir, and Studio Zéro. He had the chance to collaborate with and assist some of the most talented photographers: Bettina RHEIMS, Patrick DEMARCHELIER, Terry RICHARDSON, Ellen VON UNWERTH, Marcus MAM... From certain decisive meetings, beautiful projects and long collaborations emerged, notably with André RAU, Bettina RHEIMS (the sultry INRI exhibition and its eponymous book at Editions Albin Michel) and Peter BEARD (Pirelli calendar 2009 in Botswana).
His photos have been published, among others, by Condé Nast Editions (French and international), Première, Wallpaper, ID, Madame Figaro, Lifestyles, Dandy Magazine... His world also interests brands with very different identity codes for which he has signed institutional and/or advertising campaigns such as Dior (beauty), L'Oréal, Peugeot, Philip Morris, or Burger King (awarded at the Dubai Lynx).
Ben DAUCHEZ has also shot numerous portraits of celebrities (IGGY POP, Woody ALLEN, Grace JONES, Jean DUJARDIN, Gilles LELLOUCHE, Olivier MARCHAL, Carole BOUQUET, Charlotte GAINSBOURG, ...) beauty, men of the world (Olivier DASSAULT, Jacques SEGUELA...) and travelers...
This photographic path has since allowed him to freely capture the human beauty, aesthetics, and spiritual essence of each personality.
