Antique gilded (doublé) pocket watch chain (also known as chatelaine or albertine) with double gourmet links and a spring-eye clasp.

The stamp "DOUBLE" means that the piece is not made of solid gold, but features a mechanically applied, relatively thick gold layer over a base metal (such as copper or brass).
In contrast to regular thin gilding (electroplating), doublé jewelry is of higher quality. The gold layer is rolled onto the base metal by means of heat and pressure.

Antieke vergulde (doublé) zakhorlogeketting (ook wel chatelaine of albertine genoemd) met dubbele gourmetschakels en een veeroogsluiting.
