Tile (5) - 1930-1940

A polychrome, hand-painted earthenware wall tile with a symmetrical bird-and-flower motif. The colors — cobalt blue, yellow, green, and red on white — and the decorative arrangement evoke European folk art/faience, but also designs influenced by Persian/Ottoman and, later, Mediterranean tile traditions.
