In The Source of Desires the water is not just a backdrop, but becomes emotional and symbolic matter. The female figure, immersed in an intense turquoise universe, surrenders to the jet of the spring with a nearly liberating gesture: the face turned upward, arms open, and the body suspended in the water suggest a moment of intimate communion with a primordial element.
The strength of the work arises mainly from the contrast between the figure’s physicality and the constant movement of the surface, built through reflections, ripples and luminous vibrations. The water jet introduces an energetic diagonal that breaks the breadth of the pool and inevitably guides the gaze toward the protagonist.
The title finally adds a poetic dimension: that spring seems to transform into the imaginary place where one can entrust desires, hopes, and secret thoughts. A luminous and sensual work, but above all evocative, suspended between reality and dream.
