AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

POP ART is a 70 x 100 cm painting by Flavia Delgado that pays homage to the iconic imagery of pop art from a contemporary and personal viewpoint.

The work presents a female portrait in the foreground, with retro aesthetics, oversized glasses, bold lips and a carefully styled hairdo. The figure, captured in a suspended gesture, conveys a mix of attitude, elegance and mystery.

The use of flat and vibrant colors — reds, yellows and blues — together with bold black outlines, places the piece within the visual language of mid-20th century comics and advertising, evoking references to classic pop without losing freshness.

The typography “POP ART” reinforces the declarative character of the work, making it almost a poster or visual manifesto. The clean and direct composition emphasizes the face as a symbol, beyond the narrative.

POP ART is a piece that celebrates aesthetics, imagery and contemporary visual culture, transforming a portrait into an icon.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
