Description from the seller

POLO CLUB is a 70 x 100 cm painting by Flavia Delgado inspired by the timeless elegance of polo, one of the most emblematic and sophisticated equestrian sports in the world.

The composition places the viewer on the field, just before the start of the game. In the foreground a player is ready to enter action while several riders wait mounted on their horses. The scene conveys a sense of calm anticipation, that suspended moment where concentration, strategy and skill are about to transform into movement.

The artist builds the image through a visual language with strong graphic influence, using defined black outlines, broad areas of flat color and a warm palette dominated by ochres, creams, blues and intense reds. This aesthetics recalls the great mid-20th century sports and advertising posters, reinterpreted from a contemporary perspective close to pop art.

Beyond the sporting representation, POLO CLUB speaks of tradition, discipline and refinement. The horses, silent protagonists of the scene, bring nobility and balance to a composition that celebrates both competition and the historical bond between humans and the equestrian world.

With its elegant atmosphere and evocative character, this work is ideal for collectors attracted to sport, equestrian culture and vintage graphic aesthetics, lending personality and distinction to any contemporary space.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
