Hermès Paris – Snaffle bit (olive-head bit) – Vintage equestrian sport and fashion accessory – with original box

The bit is in a classic, simple break-in state and features fixed, rounded olive-head rings. On one of the rings is the characteristic HERMÈS stamp with accent, relief-embossed into the metal.

The piece is offered with the accompanying orange Hermès original box. The lid bears the historic carriage logo as well as the inscription:

The side of the box is marked “MADE IN FRANCE.” Inside is also the original tissue paper with a Hermès label.

Large Hermès bits, or horse bits like the present olive-head bit, are also known as decorative accessories, in which a Hermès carré or another silk scarf can be threaded through the side rings and the ensemble worn as a belt around the waist. This characteristic way, the object links Hermès’s equestrian tradition with the house’s fashion and accessories realm.

The design of the box and the brand stamping corresponds to an older Hermès version. An exact dating is not documented; the piece is therefore offered as a vintage Hermès equestrian accessory, without guaranteeing a specific year.

Condition
Very good vintage condition. The metal is bright and well-kept, showing only minor, age- or storage-related surface traces. Please refer to the detailed photos.

The original box is also well preserved for its age, with minor age-related signs of use. The original inner paper is present and shows light storage and aging marks.
