Description from the seller
YELLOW BALCONY
90 × 70 cm
Acrylic on canvas · 2026
Yellow Balcony presents an open view of a mountainous landscape framed by a large arched door and blue shutters. From inside, the gaze is projected toward a bright balcony where several pots introduce small botanical accents before giving way to a horizon of green hills and blue mountains beneath a sky of light clouds.
The composition is built through a strong contrast between the blues of the carpentry and the landscape, the pinks of the walls, and the yellows and oranges of the exterior ground. The central arch organizes the scene and concentrates the gaze into the depth of the landscape, while the shadows projected on the interior add rhythm and a clear sense of light. The work turns the open window into a contemplative device, connecting the domestic space with the breadth of the natural surroundings.
PROJECT AND VALUE OF THE WORK
Yellow Balcony is part of Mar Legón's research on windows, balconies, and transitional spaces between interior and exterior. In this piece, architecture does not function merely as a frame, but as a compositional structure that organizes the experience of the landscape and reinforces the sense of openness toward the horizon.
Entirely handmade in 2026, this unique piece brings together some of the artist's characteristic elements: a vibrant color palette, formal simplification, defined luminous contrasts, and a spatial construction based on planes of color. The work transforms a domestic scene into an image with strong visual presence, where architecture, landscape, and light are integrated into a single contemplative experience.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Mar Legón develops a painting practice focused on reinterpretation of landscapes, interiors, still lifes, and figurative scenes through a visual language based on color, formal synthesis, and the construction of atmospheres.
Her work transforms recognizable spaces and motifs into images of strong visual intensity, where reality is simplified and reorganized to give rise to scenes that oscillate between memory, imagination, and contemplation.
