End of the day over a commercial area. A teenager in a hoodie waits in front of the illuminated counter of a fast-food restaurant, hands in pockets, motionless. The entire left side of the canvas is empty: parking, streetlamp, a low horizon line, a dark cloud suspended in an sky that turns apricot. The contrast is everything: the warm box of light on the right, the grand blue cold of the asphalt on the left, and this silhouette stuck between the two. A contemporary Hopper, with no nostalgia on display—just waiting, the hollow hour, and the light falling.
Fine, melted textures in the skies, brushstrokes Reserved for the neon and the reflections of the pavement; the sidewalk perspective pulls the eye toward the back of the painting.
