Description from the seller

Le Passage

Technique : Acrylic on canvas
Style : Contemporary abstraction

Le Passage explores the idea of transformation and movement through a composition structured by a large clear form that traverses a space dominated by black.

The white forms, layered and developed with different textures, appear as architecture under construction. They create a vertical and horizontal visual path, interrupted and resumed in several places, like fragments of a crossing. Subtle touches of blue, ochre, and gray appear in the material and bring depth and relief to the whole.

The contrast between the brightness of the light forms and the depth of the black background creates a tension between shadow and light, closure and opening, immobility and movement. The traces, scratches, superpositions, and irregularities visible on the canvas are preserved as essential elements of the painting gesture.

Through this work, I explore the notion of passage as an inner experience: a space between what has been and what is yet to be built. The composition remains deliberately open so that each viewer can project their own perception onto it.

This work aligns with my approach to contemporary abstraction, where matter, gesture, and contrasts become a visual language to evoke memory, transformation, and the different paths of human experience.

Original work, signed by the artist.
The painting will be shipped rolled in a tube, without the stretcher.
About the artist: Born in 1966, Jane Grièco is a Brazilian artist living in Brittany.
Since her beginnings under the strong and insistent sun of the tropics, Jane pursued beauty in the thousands of color nuances that light makes shimmer.
Jane Grieco has notably exhibited her design creations at the Art & Deco fair in La Villette, Palais Lumière in Évian-les-Bains, Maison & Objet, and in Brazil, Switzerland, Spain.
