Description from the seller
THERE IS ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1
With this square-format artwork, Medsan brings skate sneakers into Mondrian's grid and the vocabulary of neoplasticism, that of the 1920s series of Compositions in Red, Yellow and Blue. The low-cut shoe with a lateral stripe, ribbed sole and red heel label floats in the foreground, as if detached from the wall it takes for a backdrop. The background is a complete orthogonal composition, thick black lines, primary color blocks and off-whites, in which a cartouche reading メドサン is discreetly inscribed in gray on the right, like a square on a checkerboard.
The rendering is that of an impasto oil: material pulled with a palette knife, brush marks visible in the reds and blues, whites worked into an irregular paste that catches the light. The shoe itself is trompe l'oeil painted, with studio realism — unbleached canvas soiled, white stitches, metal eyelets, brown outsole rubber worn — and above all splashes of red, blue and yellow on the leather and sole, exactly the three primaries of the background. The palette remains strictly neoplastic: red, yellow, blue, black, white, with pearl grays that open the grid and give depth to the whole.
The mashup says one simple, true thing: the pure abstraction of Mondrian has ended up in the street, on fabrics, façades and sneakers, and it is this stained shoe that carries its memory. By placing a worn object, dated, marked by the body, before a grid meant to be timeless, Medsan confronts geometric utopia with the everyday life of the wearer. The stains are not an accident: they are proof that the painting has been lived.
A graphic piece, immediately legible, ideal for bringing a pop and neoplastic touch to a contemporary interior, for a collector sensitive to design, to skate culture, and to the history of abstraction. concretely, you receive a unique giclée print on canvas, pigment print mounted on a wooden stretcher (approximately 2 cm thick), numbered 1/1 and hand-signed.

About the Atelier:
Atelier Joconde is a studio of artists gathered around a living, plural contemporary creation. Set up as a true place of artistic production, the studio operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on the projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realist influences. Alongside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive search, blending abstract art, outsider art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, produced, and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
