Ferruccio Ferrario – View of Lake Maggiore with Laveno and Monte Sasso del Ferro – 1946

Oil painting on plywood depicting a view of Lake Maggiore, executed from the Piedmont coast (Pallanza/Intra area) with the gaze directed toward the Lombard shore.
The composition depicts in the foreground a tree-lined shore and, in the background beyond the water surface, the settlement of Laveno dominated by the geometric profile of Monte Sasso del Ferro.
The work is signed at the bottom left "Ferruccio F." and dated [19]46.
The author is identifiable as Ferruccio Ferrario (1900-1961), a painter historically active in the Verbano area.

Stile e tecnica: Figurative painting of solid pre-Alpine landscape tradition. Carried out en plein air with rapid, textural, and substantial brushstrokes, typical of easel panels of the period
Atmospheric rendering: Excellent mastery of aerial perspective. The subdued contrasts in the background faithfully restore the bright light, distance, and humidity typical of Lake Maggiore. Historical coherence (1946): The work reflects the artistic climate of the return to regional naturalism. It combines the quality of territorial painting with the objective documentation of the Verbano geographic profile.

.The back of the panel presents a contemporaneous dedication inscription dated 1954: "S. Carlo 1954 - Emma e Ferruccio - Con affetto".
