Description from the seller
THERE IS ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1
With this square-format work, Medsan brings Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's Little Prince into the Japanese print, ukiyo-e. The blond child, scarf fluttering in the wind, stands on his asteroid that has become a rock battered by Hokusai's Great Wave off Kanagawa; the tamed fox sits to his right, the rose remains protected under its glass dome. The snowy Mount Fuji closes the horizon, while the vertical cartouche announces 星の王子さま, the Japanese title of the novel.
The rendering imitates its vocabulary in ukiyo-e and nihonga: fine ink halos, flat areas laid as in woodblock printing, wash-like watercolor tones, and bokashi gradients in the night sky. The palette rests on Hokusai's Prussian blue — indigo of the sky, variations of blues in the swell — heightened by the vermilion of the scarf, the rose, and the seals, and the aqua green of the tunic. Froth like claws, clouds in stylized whorls, flying cranes, a moon pink with craters: each motif is treated with the precision of an engraved plate. Three aged-paper cartouches bear vertical calligraphies, sealed with red hanko-like artist stamps.
The comparison has its intimate logic: the tale and the print share the same subject, impermanence. The wave threatening to carry away the rock says exactly what the rose under glass tries to keep back, and the calligraphic quotes — the essential invisible to the eye, time lost for his rose — read like verses of a Japanese poem. The unchanging Fuji and the moving ocean frame a child who has understood that all attachment costs time.
A narrative and contemplative piece, ideal for adding a poetic and literary touch to a collector’s interior who values connections between French literature and Japanese prints. What you receive: a pigment print on canvas stretched on a frame, a single unique giclée edition numbered 1/1 and hand-signed.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists around a living, plural contemporary creation. Set up like a true production space, the studio operates both as a collaborative creation and as individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work influenced by cinema and realism. Beside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive search, blending abstract art, outsider art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, produced, and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
