With this square-format work, Medsan transforms an anatomical heart into a blue-white porcelain piece and repairs it according to the kintsugi ritual. The organ, drawn with the precision of a Vesalian plate, borrows its décor from Ming ceramics and their European progeny, Delft faience: river landscapes, tiny pagodas, cobalt-toned foliage. The cracks are not hidden but emphasized, and the vasculature itself becomes a network of fractures along the coronaries.

The rendering imitates oil and impasto: the brushstroke is visible, loaded; the black background is brushed in broad swaths that reveal the grain of the canvas and bring out the whiteness of the glaze. The palette is tightened — glaze white, deep cobalt, washed blues — and admits only one counterpoint, a dark iron red that outlines corals and flowers on the auricles and major vessels. The repair veins run in continuous lines with a gold-leaf finish, warm against the cold blue. At the bottom right, the cartouche メドサン signs the piece in vermilion red.

Kintsugi does not repair to erase: it inscribes the accident in the object's history and makes it more precious than before. Applied to the heart, the gesture becomes an evident choice — the ruptures are visible, mapped, and they are what hold the whole together. The Japanese mono no aware meets Western vanity here, and the fragile becomes the very locus of value.

A piece that is at once graphic and intimate, ideal for bringing a contemplative, high-end touch to the home of a collector sensitive to the dialogue between the Orient and classical anatomy.
