Description from the seller
ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1
With this square-format work, Medsan brings a Nike Dunk High sneaker into Vincent van Gogh's Sunflowers, a series painted in Arles in 1888. The sports shoe, an absolute icon of street culture and the sneaker game, occupies the place the Dutch master reserved for the bouquet, placed at the heart of the petals as a still life of our era. The cartouche メドサン quietly signs the lower right corner.
Everything is built on the visual vocabulary of Post-Impressionism: an impasto-like finish, directional strokes curving around the flower centers, radiating brushstrokes in the ochre background. The palette faithfully reproduces Arles’ hues — chrome yellow, yellow ochre, earths of Siena, deep browns of the seed heads, muted greens of the leaves and stems. The sneaker, in camel and off-white, adopts exactly the same texture: the comma and the leather panels are formed into broad planes of material, the laces treated like stems, a brown vase barely touching the bottom of the composition.
The mashup says something simple and true: what Van Gogh sought in a sunflower — light, fervor, the everyday object raised to the rank of subject — contemporary culture projects today onto an object of desire in leather and rubber. The wilted sunflowers surrounding the shoe recall the cycle of fashion, the hype that withers, the relic that survives. One icon replaces the other without ever betraying it.
A solar and instantly legible piece, ideal for bringing a pop and written-in character to a collector’s interior attentive to the dialogue between art history and urban culture. What you receive: a unique giclée print, pigment print on canvas mounted on a wooden stretcher, numbered 1/1 and hand-signed.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a studio of artists gathered around a living and plural contemporary creation. Installed as a true center of artistic production, the studio operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on the projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realist influences. Beside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo pursues a more instinctive search, blending abstract art, outsider art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, created, and supervised within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and a unique identity for each artist.
