Description from the seller
THERE IS ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1
DIGITAL PRINT - unpainted version
With this square-format artwork, Medsan brings the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star into the dripping vocabulary of Jackson Pollock. The sneaker, born on basketball courts in 1917 and later embraced by punk, rock, and skate culture, is caught in a storm of splatters that directly references the large floor-painted canvases of American abstract expressionism, from Number 1A to Autumn Rhythm. The mashup fits in a single image: the most democratic industrial object of the century and the freest gesture in the history of modern painting, in the same frame.
The rendering mimics and plays with two distinctly opposite registers. The shoe is laid out in a sharp black line, almost an atelier drawing — eyelets, laces, stitching, rubber stripe, circular CONVERSE ALL STAR CHUCK TAYLOR patch — while everything else explodes in splashes of black, cream white, and carmine red launched at random. The rough linen background, left exposed, serves as a breathing space and gives the sneaker its canvas-like color, with no flat fill. The drips are imitated with an impasto texture, thick drops and stretched filaments, so that the gesture’s relief reads on the surface of the work, here materialized by a unique pigment print on canvas.
This likeness speaks a simple and effective truth. The Chuck Taylor is a street object, worn, marked, never new, exactly as a Pollock painting bears the trace of what has fallen on it. The red splashes read both as energy and as wear, and the shoe seems to have traversed the studio rather than having simply stood in it. The commercial icon gains relic status, and abstraction gains a subject.
A tense and graphic piece, ideal for bringing a touch of raw energy and urban culture to a contemporary interior, loft, creative office, or collector’s wall dedicated to the intersections between modern art and cult objects. The buyer receives a pigment print on canvas stretched on a wooden frame, produced in a single copy, numbered 1/1 and hand-signed.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a studio of artists brought together around a living, plural contemporary creation. Established as a true art-production space, the studio operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family adventure. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. Alongside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo pursues a more instinctive inquiry, blending abstract art, naïve art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, realized, and tracked within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
