LORIN - Inner Circle

Inner Circle arises from the idea of a reserved space, accessible only to what we choose to let in. The expression commonly indicates the small circle of people we trust, but it can also take on a more intimate meaning: that inner territory made of thoughts, emotions and fragility that we do not necessarily share with others.
In the painting this idea becomes almost physical. The figure gathers the legs toward the body and holds them with the hands, creating with her posture a closed and protected perimeter. The dark space surrounding her reinforces this sensation, as if everything outside that small circle were momentarily excluded.
