With this vertical-format work, Medsan places Terminator's T-800 endoskeleton—the red-eyed, metal-skull machine from James Cameron—at the center of a traditional Japanese tea room. Kneeling in seiza on a straw mat, the Skynet hunter extends an articulated hand toward a white camellia he has just placed in a stoneware vase. In front of him, a work cloth lines up the cut stems, the florist scissors, and the bowl of water: all the gear of the ikebana master.

The mashup rests in this word hanging on the wall. The machine programmed to kill is here occupied with cutting a flower to prolong it, in the slowest and most codified of arts. The pine and the camellia, symbols of longevity and ephemeral beauty, rest between fingers of steel designed for extermination — violence disarmed by contemplation.

A piece of quiet irony, ideal for bringing a touch of literate science fiction to an interior of a sensitive collector, drawn both to cult cinema and to Japanese aesthetics. The buyer receives a pigment print on canvas, a unique giclée print numbered 1/1 and signed by hand.
