Description from the seller

Hibiki 17 Years

Hibiki 17 Year Old is one of Suntory's most emblematic Japanese blended whiskies. It was launched in 1989, together with the Hibiki brand, to commemorate Suntory's 90th anniversary.

It is a 43% ABV blended whisky, produced by combining numerous malt and grain whiskies coming mainly from the Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita distilleries, with a minimum age of 17 years. Hibiki's philosophy seeks harmony and the overall complexity of the whole rather than highlighting a particular distillery.

Tasting profile: on the nose it is elegant and very aromatic, with peach, apricot, honey, vanilla, flowers and sandalwood. On the palate it is silky and balanced, with toffee, ripe fruit, orange peel, raisins, mild spices and oak. The finish is long, delicately sweet and spicy, with fruit, cocoa and wood.

One of its identifying features is the 24-faceted bottle, which represents the 24 sekki seasons of the traditional Japanese calendar. Its international fame grew especially after appearing in Lost in Translation (2003).

Regular production of Hibiki 17 was suspended in 2018, mainly due to the scarcity of aged Japanese whisky stocks, which has made it currently a highly sought-after bottle by collectors.
