Description from the seller
Rodrigo Alonso Cuesta (Burgos, 1982). Resides in Spain.
This holder of a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Salamanca and in Audiovisual Communication from the University of Burgos has had an outstanding academic formation, complemented by experiences abroad thanks to the Erasmus scholarships he completed in Portugal and Belgium.
His artistic activity focuses mainly on oil painting, acrylic, watercolor, digital art, and paper, where he creates paintings, drawings, and collages. His style is characterized by a rich, vivid, and expressive color palette, as well as a plastic compositional style, with dynamic and unusual perspectives, influenced by his passion for analog photography.
The themes he addresses in his works are “landscapes, still lifes and portraits… that’s all,” following the famous quote by David Hockney. Although his work starts from figurative representation, he has now begun to experiment with geometric abstraction, always in large, expansive formats.
This artist has participated in numerous exhibitions at the national level, with a special focus on northern Spain. For more than 20 years, he has presented his work in various locations, such as Burgos, Teruel, Vitoria, and Salamanca, where his work is especially recognized. Additionally, he has won painting awards at both national and international levels, demonstrating his talent and recognition in the artistic field.
Recently he won the prize at the III Motril Art Contest. 2024.
Beyond his presence in exhibitions, his works form part of multiple private collections around the world. This shows that his work is not only valued by the general public but also by collectors and art lovers who value his unique style and technical skill.
In short, this holder of a degree in Fine Arts and Audiovisual Communication has developed a distinguished artistic career, focused on oil painting, acrylic, digital art, paper, and watercolor. His work is characterized by a rich color palette, a plastic compositional style, and unusual perspectives. With numerous exhibitions and awards at national and international levels, his work forms part of private collections around the world.
