AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

AIR COMMAND is a 70 x 100 cm painting by Flavia Delgado inspired by the aesthetic of vintage military aviation posters, propagandistic illustrations, and the heroic imagination of the mid-20th century.

The work depicts a aviation pilot next to a classic propeller aircraft, evoking the spirit of adventure, bravery, and aerial exploration that characterized historical aviation. The composition conveys strength, determination, and visual nostalgia, linking the classic aviation universe with a contemporary graphic language.

Flavia Delgado blends influences from pop art, classic comics, and vintage editorial illustration, evoking the old illustrated covers and graphic ads from the fifties and sixties. The bold black outlines, simplified shapes, and frontal composition recall retro aviation posters and period visual campaigns.

The color palette, dominated by intense reds, sand tones, and deep blacks, creates a powerful and cinematic image. The pilot appears as an iconic and almost monumental figure, reinforcing a sense of pride, discipline, and adventurous spirit.

AIR COMMAND is a work that combines historical nostalgia, graphic design, and American retro aesthetics, bringing character, visual strength, and contemporary personality to any space.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
