Lamp - Leather, Metal - Moroccan Henna Leather

Extraordinary Moroccan standing lamp in a sculptural, organically curved form. The fixture consists of a metal/iron frame, which is upholstered with light leather and elaborately decorated with dark brown to black oriental ornaments.

This type of lighting belongs to the tradition of Moroccan Henna lamps, where a forged iron frame is covered with leather — traditionally often goatskin — and subsequently ornamentally painted. Comparable lamps are still handcrafted in Morocco, particularly in Marrakesh. A specific workshop or manufacturer is not identified for this exemplar.

Especially striking is the unusual silhouette: The lamp body runs over several differently wide, softly curved sections and ends in a tall, slender metal frame with a spherical cap. This gives the lamp, even when unlit, a highly decorative, almost sculptural character.

The light material across the entire surface bears a dense ornamental design of geometric, floral, and abstract motifs. The natural aging and patina emphasize the ethnographic-oriental character.

Inside there is an electrical socket; power cable with Euro plug and inline switch are present. Functionality has been checked.

The lamp is in used vintage condition with age- and wear-related traces. In particular, leather/upholstery, painting, and the metal frame show patina. At certain points there are signs of wear or damage to the upholstery. These features are part of the offered condition and are documented in the photographs.
